Spain – The family, an active role in Family Ministry |
Spain – Assembly of the “Hogares Don Bosco” |
(ANS - Madrid) - From 10 to 12 October, to coincide with the Synod on the Family, the Salesian Family in Spain held an important meeting at the El Escorial community in Madrid. This was the meeting of participants in the “Hogares Don Bosco” (Don Bosco Homes) movement on the occasion of its 50th anniversary. The event was attended by Fr Eusebio Muñoz Ruiz, delegate of the Rector Major for the Salesian Family.
With the motto "the dream continues", the meeting was gave an opportunity to share ideas and suggestions on the work that the movement is called to do in terms of family ministry, within the Salesian Family and the Church. Fr Muñoz guided and coordinated the work of the meeting.
The Hogares Don Bosco movement is part of the Family Ministry of the Salesian Family, directed especially to the Association of Salesian Cooperators. Founded 50 years ago, it promotes the human, Christian and Salesian formation of its members and works for the formation of authentic domestic churches, seriously committed to the Church and the Salesian Family.
To this end, its members receive ongoing formation, as explained by Fr Juan Carlos Pérez Godoy, Superior of the Saint James the Greater Province. "These are groups of married couples, who meet to discuss and share, from their experience as Christian and Salesian couples, on the situation of marriage, family and raising children. They also collaborate in the Church’s family ministry. One of their activities is often the preparation of young couples for marriage."
At present there are Hogares Don Bosco throughout the whole of Spain, but especially in Andalusia, Madrid and Catalonia. 2015 was an important year for the movement as they celebrated fifty years in existence, as members of the Church active in the renewal of family ministry.
