(ANS - Quito) - The Central Commission of the Salesian School in America met from Wednesday 16 until today, Friday 18 September, at the Provincial House of the Salesians of Ecuador. The meeting aims to lay the groundwork for the next Continental Meeting in 2017, and to discuss the methodology and the strategy needed to meet the needs of the school in America today.

The commission is made up of representatives of schools from the various areas of the American Continent. The meeting is being organized by Sister Runita Borja, General Councillor for the ​​Youth Ministry Sector of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians and Fr Miguel Ángel García, SDB, of the Youth Ministry Department of the Salesians.

Among the activities planned are: introducing the central team for schools; the summary of the assessment of best practices; initiatives and processes implemented since the last meeting in Panama in 2013; and sharing the most appropriate methodology for assessing provincial and regional challenges and the corresponding action lines taken at that meeting.

The meeting also aims to anticipate whatever may be necessary by way of preparation for the next Continental Meeting in 2017, with the help of representatives currently meeting in Quito, defining objectives and determining who the meeting is intended for, and agreeing on the place, date, strategic issues, innovative methodologies and other logistical details.
