(ANS – Maligaon) – On 26th May 2015, the Addl. Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister of Assam Shri MGVK Bhanu IAS, inaugurated DBCREATE (Don Bosco Center for Renewable Energy, Advance Technologies & Entrepreneurship). This is an Industry-Institute partnership initiative undertaken by Don Bosco Technical School, Maligaon. Among those present were Father VM Thomas, Provincial, Father KJ Thomas, Economer & Director Bosco Reach Out, Guwahati, Father Benny Alex, Director DB Maligaon, and other dignitaries. Various industry partners in the field of Renewable Energy & Advance Technologies from different parts of the country and from abroad are joining this premier venture in North East India.
The initial industry partners include: VERTEX, NESSA, OLUMPUS Powers, ANIL Pumps, VERDATEC. MAIT (Manufacturers’ Association of Information Technologies) is the mentor partner for the initiative.
The Director of Don Bosco Maligaon says, “Maligaon centre, the first of its kind in North East India, will act as a platform for integrated Research & Development, Incubation, Manufacturing, Training & Support mainly in the field of renewable energy technologies. (…) Besides helping youth from the North East region to be entrepreneurs, the centre will act as motivation and model for large industries to come and set up their plants in the state.”
It is hoped that through this centre there will be over 5000 jobs generated in the next five years in renewable energy skilled manpower employment/self-employment.
In his inaugural speech, Mr. MGVK Bhanu stressed that it is only with a lot of interest and sincerity that one can bring about “change and innovation in any field”. He exhorted the 600 youth who gathered for the occasion to “get out” of all types of laziness and “get on” to hard work so as to achieve success in life.
The geographical and geological challenges in the North Eastern states make the super or large power supply grids practically and economically unviable. It is in such conditions that distributed energy or onsite energy generation and consumption will be both economically and practically viable. To achieve such an ambitious project the presence of quality skilled manpower is very important.
In response to these demands, DBCREATE will impart skill training in the renewable energy technologies to the youth of the North Eastern region.
Don Bosco Maligaon is part of the DBTech India network. It was established in the year 1968 and is a partnered organisation with NSDC under the “skilling India” programme. Don Bosco Maligaon has educated more than 2000 youth with 80% placement in the last 3 years.
Don Bosco Maligaon is also one of the centres for imparting skill training under the Employment Generation Mission (EGM), Assam, a registered society under Government of Assam.
