(ANS - Mexico City)– The Rectors of the Salesian communities in the MEM Province gathered on Monday 18 May in the Don Bosco Salesian College of Iztapalapa, Mexico City, to hear the report of Father Timothy Ploch at the conclusion of the Extraordinary Visitation to the Province, carried out in the name of the Rector Major Fr Ángel Fernández Artime.

In about one hour, the Extraordinary Visitor and current Regional Councillor for Inter-America, said that the MEM Province is blessed by the Most Blessed Virgin Mary of Guadalupe. He said that he could see this in the Salesian works and in the beautiful witness of so many Salesians, consecrated to the mission of saving souls, and giving priority in the mission to the souls of the young people.

Fr Ploch arrived in Mexico with the task entrusted to him by the Rector Major of carrying out the Extraordinary Visitation that, according to the Constitutions, must be done every six years in the provinces. The goal is to assist every Salesian in working for the mission of St. John Bosco, encouraging every Salesian house and work to preserve the Salesian charism. In an act of government he directs and guides, making decisions on behalf of the Rector Major, and doing all that is needed to ensure the religious life of the Salesians.

He spoke privately to the Rectors of the communities, pointing out with clarity and charity the important elements that can help the Province to respond with greater fidelity to God's call and the charism of Don Bosco. In addition he also stressed the important points in the life of the province and spoke of the work done every day, with the intention of saving souls. He had the opportunity, during the meeting, to observe that most of the works of the MEM Province are significantly charismatic. They show very well the experience of the spirituality of Don Bosco and they are a place of human and spiritual growth for the people who attend.

At the end of his talk, Fr Ploch expressed his gratitude to Fr Gabino Hernández, Provincial of Mexico City, the members of the Provincial Council and all the Salesians and revealed sincerely his affection for Salesian Mexico.

To express their joy and gratitude for his visit, Fr Isidro Fábregas addressed some words to Fr Ploch, urging him to pray that the Province will accept his fine report and try as soon as possible to put it into practice.
