(ANS – Rome) – An online “document sharing centre” is the new venture by the department of Salesian Youth Ministry in responding to the needs of the youth, the youth animators and youth ministers. It is the official website – http://donboscosym.org– of the department, with a purpose of sharing the resources that are abundantly available in the congregation on youth ministry.

On animation visits to different parts of the Salesian world it has come to light that there is an urgent need to share the rich resources that have not been sufficiently made available to every part of our Salesian world, in particular in digital form to the tech savvy young generation of youth and those who accompany them.

Also at different parts of our congregation lies a huge wealth of resources by way of documents, animation materials, formation processes and experiences that have been tried in the past or in practice, in the field of youth ministry. These are often limited to certain geographical areas or their neighbouring provinces only. They rarely find opportunities to go beyond the confines of given territorial regions.

Therefore this site will also function as a platform that will enable, in a really easy way:

•     sharing of the wealth of resources with others in the Salesian world and outside

•     making available the good practices and positive experience lived with the young

•     multiplying of experiences without wasting energy in reproducing similar resources

•     creative participation in enriching the existing resources and lived experiences

As much as it is the platform for the Department of Youth Ministry, it is also everyone’s platform to participate in, by sharing their resources. You are welcome send any type of resource that you consider would be useful to others in animating the young. But every resource that you would like to share should be rightly accredited to the original authors, producers and makers, in order to avoid any copyright infringement.
