(ANS - Turin) - The training course for guides and escorts to the places associated with Don Bosco is nearing completion in Turin. The course is free. The idea came from a week-long meeting last September which showed how much interest there is in Don Bosco.  This is seen also in the number of events in honour of Don Bosco that will take place in Piedmont and especially in the province of Asti.

"For two years now, I have been organizing this activity with the help of my colleagues,” Fr Enrico Lupano, who is in charge of the course, told the agency Zenit. “Already last year we realized the great interest of people in rediscovering the life of Don Bosco and we want them to repeat the experience, especially in light of the important events that will take place in the capital of Piedmont during 2015."

The weekly training session has been the magnet for different people, young and not so young, united by the desire to understand how, in spite of great difficulties, Don Bosco was able to create such a widespread and lasting work.

Fr Lupano went on to say, "The course will take place next year also in Valdocco, because this is a place of holiness, the Bethlehem of the Salesian world."

Other events are planned in the Province of Asti as part of the Bicentenary celebrations. On Wednesday 25 February, there will be a conference in Buttigliera d'Asti entitled "The voices, the flights, the silences - the generous life of José Domingo Molas", in memory of the Salesian who was Rector of the Shrine at Becchi during the years of World War II.

On Thursday 26 February, at Castelnuovo Don Bosco, there will be a conference entitled "Education and serenity: strategies for the wellbeing of young people in the family and at school."

Last Saturday in Caselle Torinese, to mark the 15th anniversary of its foundation, the Don Bosco Caselle Amateur Sports Association announced new collaboration with FORMA Onlus, the Regina Margherita Children's Hospital Foundation of Turin. Their aim is to promote solidarity among young people on the playing fields with the message: "Sport and health are for everyone, we play for the Regina Margherita.”
