(ANS - Rome) - Next Thursday 19 February, the World Advisory Council for Social Communication will meet and begin work. For the following four days, more than twenty Salesians, Delegates and experts in social communication from various Salesian contexts will reflect and share on two specific issues: the formation of Salesians in the area of Social Communication and the present situation and future of Salesian publishers.
by Gian Francesco Romano
The Advisory Council meets every two years. Their meeting will be chaired by Fr Filiberto González Plasencia, General Councillor for Social Communication of the Congregation.
The work will involve several stages of discussion and sharing in groups devoted to reflection on the two issues on the agenda, and in plenary session to allow for further sharing and the drawing of conclusions.
Some resources have been made available to participants to help in the preparation. For the first topic there is the new Salesian Social Communication System, in which the second part deals with the Guidelines for the Formation of Salesians in Social Communication, and a book by Pina Ricceri, Formazione a Portata di Click (Paulist Press, 2011). For the second topic participants are asked to refer directly to the Acts of the General Council No. 302 (The Thought of Don Bosco as a Programme for Salesian Publishing) and No. 390 (Guidelines for Salesian Publishing).
