(ANS - Madrid) - The State Coordination of Salesian Social Platforms is promoting the implementation of the project "Empodera-T", aimed at women in situations of social vulnerability. The project is implemented with the support of the Institute for Women through the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area under the Memorandum of Understanding signed by Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Spain.

The project started in October 2014 and will continue until September 2015. Six of the partner organizations of the Coordination are participating: the Salesians of Sant Jordi, the Pinardi Federation of Social Platforms, the Valsé Foundation, the Valponasca Association, Collectiu Popular and the Mornese Foundation.

The aim of the project is to develop a socio-educational and employment intervention for women in socially vulnerable situations to promote their inclusion in society through personal orientation and training.

Since its inception 14 years ago, the State Coordination of the Salesian Social Platforms, through its member institutions, has been developing a line of action called "Women and Equal Opportunities", especially with young women in situations of social exclusion, in most cases victims of further exclusion because they are immigrants. They are currently running 19 projects in 10 Spanish provinces, with 1,168 beneficiaries and the services of more than 130 professionals and volunteers.
