Mexico – Regional meeting on unaccompanied migrant minors |
Mexico – National Meeting of Volunteers |
(ANS - Querétaro) - About 640 people gathered in the city of Queretaro, 14-16 November, to participate in the National Congress of teachers of Salesian Schools. This initiative is complementary to a similar conference, held on 8-9 August this year, in which more than 200 directors from all the Salesian schools in the country met to define the Salesian Educational Model.
In Mexico there are at present two Provinces of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (Mexico-Mexico and Mexico-Monterrey) and two Provinces of the Salesians of Don Bosco (Mexico-Mexico and Mexico-Guadalajara). Since 1994 the four provinces have joined forces in the field of education, forming a National Team of Salesian Education.
Many Salesians, FMA and lay people have been part of this team and have collaborated in designing quality educational and pastoral projects intended for the fifty-eight institutions of all levels - from pre-school to higher education – in which more than 42,000 students are educated.
In the meeting at Querétaro, 640 teachers took part. They discussed the issue of evaluation of educational and institutional procedures. On this occasion, in addition to discussion and reflection on the various topics, there was also an atmosphere of joy, unity and commitment that accompanied all activities. This atmosphere proved to be of fundamental importance in the methodology of learning through workshops, which allowed participants to explore the theme of educational management.
Networking and building a community spirit between laity, FMA and Salesians, offers better opportunities to achieve the proposed objectives and allows the children and young people who attend the Salesian works to benefit more, through a valid educational project and an environment that helps them to be good Christians and honest citizens.
