10/10/2014 - India - First Yamaha Technical School in the North East region at DBTech

(ANS – Maligaon) – Yamaha inaugurated its first Yamaha Technical School in the North East region at Don Bosco Technical School, Maligaon in Guwahati, on 26th September, 2014. As part of its CSR initiative, Yamaha will impart technical training to the underprivileged youth for a secure future and assist them in final job placements at its dealerships in the city.

The Don Bosco-Yamaha Technical School aims to create a “Centre of Excellence” where the youth will receive 2-wheeler technical training that will enable them to become expert 2-wheeler technicians. Thereafter, they could be employed gainfully at Yamaha Dealerships and become productive members of society. Technical experts from Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd. are conducting the YTS program on behalf of India Yamaha Motor Pvt. Ltd.

The YTS centre was formally inaugurated by Mr. Masaki Asano, MD, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd. along with Fr. VM. Thomas, the Salesian Provincial, Guwahati. With a short prayer and cutting of the ribbon the centre was inaugurated and blessed by Don Bosco group represented by Fr. VM Thomas and Fr. Benny Alex, Director of Don Bosco, Maligaon and Yamaha group officials. The event was also enriched by a beautiful cultural programme put on by the students of the Technical School.  

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ravinder Singh, Vice President, Strategy and Planning, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd. said `As a recognized considerate industry player, we shoulder the responsibility to empower the economically weaker sections of society especially the youth. We have incorporated many programmes in our annual calendar to make a lasting impact on the lives of these young people by making them self-reliant. (…). We certainly foresee recruitment opportunities for them at our own dealerships as this will help our dealers in getting quality trained manpower for their business.`

Fr. VM Thomas, head of the Don Bosco Institutions in Assam region said, “This is a professional venture that we are undertaking with Yamaha to give quality skills to the needy youth. Our partnership and cooperation will reach to the masses with concerted effort made by Don Bosco to help the youth of the North East.”

As part of its continued CSR initiatives, India Yamaha Motor Pvt. Ltd. is poised to adopt Government Technical Institutes and to partner with reputed NGOs across India to launch Yamaha Training Schools with Yamaha Technical Academy certification.

Yamaha had recently launched its YTS also in Kolkata, at the premises of Don Bosco Technical School (DBTS) in Liluah.
