RMG – The situation in Damascus: resignation and hope |
Italy – "The greatest humanitarian crisis since World War II" |
Syria – “Is there no longer any hope?” |
(ANS - Rome) - The consequences of the conflict that has lasted for over three years, the fear of religious fanaticism, the difficulties in living a normal life and, at the same time, the willpower and spirit of adaptation in overcoming problems - all this can be seen in the report on his visit to the Salesian communities of Syria by Fr Munir El Rai, Provincial of the Middle East, published today in the Service Section of ANS.
Fr El Rai visited the three Salesian communities in Syria - Kafroun, Aleppo and Damascus - last summer, during the months of July and August. At the end of his visit he sent an informative letter to the Salesians, where he described the state of destruction and abandonment found in many areas, but also the dedication and exemplary commitment shown by many Salesians, members of the Salesian Family, benefactors and youth leaders.
A lengthy summary of the letter can be found in the Service Section of ANS.
