(ANS – Itajaí) – The Salesian Past Pupils National Congress took place from 22-24 August, at the Salesian College in Itajaí, Porto Alegre Province. Five of the six Provincials in Brazil were present.

90 Past Pupils took part; amongst them the World Past Pupils President, Mr Muceo, the Provincial of Porto Alegre, Fr Asidio Deretti, the regional for Latin America South Cone Region, Fr Natale Vitali Forti, the current National Pat Pupils President in Brazil, Mr Monello and Salesian Past Pupils Delegates.

On the first day, Fr Renato Dos Santos, Provincial Economer for BPA, gave a conference on Don Bosco and his spirituality. On the second day Fr Natale Vitali Forti spoke on identity and involvement of Past Pupils. They also listened to some fine experiences being brought about by Past Pupils who are deeply involved in the Church, society and the Salesian mission. The World President, Mr Muceo, also gave a conference on the current situation of the Past Pupils federation at world level.

Mr Monello, the current local president, gave a well prepared and extensive report on his mandate. This was in preparation for the election of a new president, which took place on August 245, resulting in the election of Mr Osvaldo Dal Piaz, from BPA Province. He will now fulfil his role as President of the Past Pupils of Don Bosco in Brazil.

The setting was one of human warmth, prayer, exchange, and enthusiasm for Don Bosco. What also stood out was the broad participation of a large number of young past pupils.
