RMG – Opening of the Bicentenary of Don Bosco: upcoming events |
(ANS - Rome) - "Being where there are more young people": with these motivational words, the Rector Major, Don Ángel Fernández Artime, greeted us a few days ago on his Facebook page. And it is precisely during these days leading to the the opening of the Bicentenary of Don Bosco, numerous digital initiatives are appearing in social networks and in the Internet to celebrate this year dedicated to the saint of the young.
The Salesians of Italy have uploaded a few days ago a first greeting, of the Rector Major in Italian, on the occasion of the Bicentennial; in addition to this is a video, whereit talks of the same Don Bosco, the farming village realities and family life where this saint was born.
Another initiative comes from the Salesians of Bolivia. With their two video clips posted on their YouTube Channel, they have traced the history of the saint and his charisma, presented in a contemporaneous and youthful way, explaining the significance of the Bicentennial and inviting everyone to participate in the celebrations.
The video uploaded by the Argentine Salesian Bulletin is focused instead on the pedagogy of this holy Piedmontese, which actually leads to a more in-depth explanation, available on DVD, consisting of an animated mini-series of 3 chapters, entitled: "No basta amar" (It is not enough to love).
On Facebook, on the bicentennial page from the Province of Sicily, a contest: “Make your own greetings (auguri) to Don Bosco” was launched. Several contributions from oratorians, youth groups and religious communities express their joy for the anniversary by means of very short video clips of about 15 seconds.
Finally on Thursday, August 15, the official video message from the Rector Major will be posted on the ANSChannel, in 6 languages, for the Salesians, the young and the Salesian Family.
