(ANS – Mumbai) – The Don Bosco Matunga, Alumni of the 1969 group, in the city of Mumbai, have donated a system of providing clean drinking water to students of their Alma Mater, through a project termed “Aqua Pure Water Project” of the Eureka Forbes multinational company. The project will provide nearly 3,500 children of the school clean drinking water on their school premises.
The occasion that paved the way for the project was the meeting of the 1969 group of the school. It was a great achievement for the group to meet after nearly 43 years. The 65 students who met committed themselves to give generously to the school which had nurtured them to becoming what they are. Their decision was taken on the most essential commodity for living a healthy life: `A Clean Drinking Water Purification System` for the school students.
The CEO of Eureka Forbes, A.V. Suresh, President International Operations, an alumnus of Don Bosco Chennai, having installed the project for the school promised that Eureka Forbes company would commit itself to providing clean drinking water for the school children for the next 10 years and would also initiate a project in collaboration with the school for water harvesting and water recycling, when completed the first of its kind for a school in India.
Jayesh Chandan, President of Don Bosco Alumni Past Pupils Unit, Matunga said, “What we are trying to do is catalyze change by exploring and promoting the development of new interventions and new models for the school of Don Bosco Matunga through the Don Bosco Matunga Alumni Past Pupils Unit.”
Fr. Bosco D’Mello inaugurated the plaque of the “Aqua Pure Water System” donated by the alumni and thanked them for their immense generosity and good will. Fr. Wilfred D’Souza, Rector of the Don Bosco High School and the one in-charge of the Don Bosco Alumni Association, encouraged all the past pupils to join the great movement of Don Bosco. He appreciated the generosity of the group of 1969 and then inaugurated and blessed the Aqua Pure Water System and prayed for their family members.
