(ANS - Madrid) - Yesterday, Tuesday 17 June, the Salesian Institute of Atocha in Madrid received one of three scholarships that the Gene Haas Foundation has granted to Spanish training centres in mechanized production and manufacture. The scholarship, valued at more than €35,000, will be used to cover tuition fees for students with financial difficulties, educational material, books and research. The award ceremony was held at the Salesian centre.
The other institutions in Spain that received awards are the Luis Vives Institute of Secondary Education of Leganes and the EGIBIDE centre of Vitoria. Scholarships were awarded also to vocational training centers and technical institutes in Belgium, Ukraine, Portugal, Croatia, Latvia, Poland and the Netherlands.
The scholarships, for a period of one year, are aimed at students who are about to finish high school, students of vocational courses or mechanized production technology, as well as young or unemployed workers wishing to pursue studies in mechanical engineering.
The scholarships are donated by Gene Haas, founder and managing director of Haas Automation. The Gene Haas Foundation was established in 1999 and has already donated over the years more than 8.5 million dollars to various organizations and charitable causes. Hass Automation is a multinational company that manufactures machines and equipment for mechanized production, milling, drilling and turning.
