(ANS – Florence)– The third meeting of teachers and principals of Salesian schools and vocational training centres in Europe was held in Florence on 6 and 7 May. The meeting was conducted by Fr Miguel Angel García, from the Department for Youth Ministry who is responsible for schools and vocational training centres. It attracted twenty participants, Salesians and lay people, from Germany, Slovakia, Spain, Hungary, Great Britain, Italy, Malta, Ukraine and Poland.
The two-day seminar examined several themes:
-
A brief update on planning and European programmes 2014-2020. It included a preliminary assessment of the Erasmus programme from 2014 onwards, evaluating strategic partnerships in education, training and youth issues and planning methodology. They also looked at how to find the correct application form and gave practical tips for writing a successful project, and information on the deadline for submission of the proposal.
-
Sharing on current projects under direct management of Salesian communities or provinces, on new proposals and possible future initiatives.
-
Presentation of various training initiatives being planned at European level, which can help in planning and developing strong and effective European projects that respond to the actual funding priorities of the European Commission and the real needs in Salesian situations.
-
The reorganization of the website of the School or Vocational Training Centre and the preparation of the next meeting, which will work on project ideas that each participant can offer to the network, and programmes that have been started in various Salesian centres.
