(ANS - Vatican City) – Last week the membership and roles of the General Council were determined. This morning the members of the 27th General Chapter are going to the Vatican to meet Pope Francis.
This is their second visit to the Vatican – they went there on 19 March last for a Concert of the Sistine Chapel Choir, directed by Fr Massimo Palombella, SDB.
The meeting with the Pope will be part of a broader spiritual programme which includes a prayer in common around the altar of the Chair of St. Peter, and then a prayer under the statue of Don Bosco in the Basilica.
The meeting with the Pope is planned for midday in the Clementine Hall. The new Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, will greet the Pope and then Pope Francis will speak to the Chapter members.
In the afternoon ordinary Chapter work will resume, with an assembly meeting on the second core topic "Prophets of fraternity." Reflection, evaluation and proposals on the issues of GC27 did not end with the week of the elections.
