(ANS – Talca) – On Friday, 27 September, in the Theatre of the Extension Centre of the Catholic University of Maule, there was a gala event for the 125th anniversary of the Salesian work in Talca.

The history of the work was recalled and tribute paid to those who played an important part in the life of the school community, all in their own sphere and with their own contribution to the Salesian mission.

Among those present at the event were the authorities of the educational centre, Bishop Horacio Valenzuela, SDB, of Talca, the Vice-Provincial, Fr Vicente Aid, and other members of the Provincial Council, a representative of the Mayor and the community of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians.

The ceremony began with a greeting from the Rector, Fr Miguel Rojas. He said that these 125 years contain the work and effort of many people, Salesian priests and Brothers as well as lay people who took part in the work of Don Bosco. It is because of all of them that we are able to celebrate.

A video was shown that told briefly the story of those 125 years in which the work of God’s hand was evident. The music that enhanced the evening was performed by a Guitar Group, a Chamber Orchestra , the student Mauricio Valderrama at the piano and the Orchestra of Andean Music.

The Salesian house in Talca was the last founded by the Salesians before the death of Don Bosco.
