(ANS – Vienna)– On 24 August, eighteen cyclists left Vienna to take part in a Peace Pilgrimage that will finish at Colle Don Bosco on 8th September when then pilgrims will be present for the First Professions of some new Salesians.
Like previous pilgrimages - Vienna to Jerusalem in 2009 and Vienna to Sarajevo in 2011 - this year’s cycling pilgrimage will seek to raise support for a Salesian project, this time on behalf of refugees in Syria.
The 1140 kilometre journey will be done in fourteen stages. The cyclists will participate in various meetings and manifestations at Salesian communities in Austria and Italy, on different themes: Europe, Respect for Creation, Solidarity, Social Commitment, Help for the Homeless, Developing Ethical Economics, Initiatives against Human Trafficking and Prostitution.
The pilgrimage will end at Colle Don Bosco when the cyclists will participate in the Ceremony of Profession of the Salesian Novices, among them a young Austrian.
Anyone interested in the objectives of the pilgrimage is invited to visit the website www.friedensradfahrt.eu
