Ireland - Contract signed for Salesian ACRE Project |
(ANS – Celbridge) – The ACRE Project’s 2nd Annual Plant Sale, held in the grounds of Salesian College on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 May, was a great success and saw a steady stream of hundreds of people. About 6,000€ worth of plants were sold over the two days. The profits from the sale go to funds being raised to start the second and final phase of the Project, which will cost around €500,000.
“By the end of Saturday, we were practically sold out,” said Fr Pat Egan, one of the ACRE directors. “We restocked on Sunday morning, and everything was gone by 4.30 pm!” People who came in the late afternoon of Sunday said they would have to make sure to come early next year.
The weather was great, two brilliantly sunny days, and a good number of people commented on the light classical background music. Refreshments were served, and the local Halo Café were more than generous with the loan of equipment and donated two batches of freshly baked buns.
The quality of the plants was super, and people got to know more about the ACRE project and its horticultural programmes and the availability of its premises for a large variety of community activities.
