(ANS – Rome) – The Superior General of the Society of Jesus, Fr Adolfo Nicolás, is the new President of the Union of Superiors General (USG). This was made known last Friday in a communication from USG.

Fr Nicolás, who until now was Vice-President of the Union, succeeds Mons. José Rodriguez Carballo of the Order of Friars Minor, who has been appointed by Pope Francis as secretary of the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life. The new Vice-President will be elected in the general assembly to be held next November.
