(ANS – Matola) – From 7 to 14 April, the World Delegates for the Salesian Family visited Mozambique with a view to getting to know and to animate the vast movement which is inspired by the charism of Don Bosco. Particular attention was paid to the formation houses of the Salesians and of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians.
Fr Giuseppe Casti and Sister Leslie Sándigo, Delegates for the Salesian Cooperators, and Fr José Pastor Ramírez, Delegate for the past pupils of Don Bosco, followed a very intense programme of meetings. On Monday 8 April, the three world delegates met the SDB and FMA aspirants and pre-novices, and on the following day the novices of both congregations at Namaacha. On 10 and 11 April they were at Inharrime, while on Friday 12 April, at the Provincial House of the Salesians, there was a meeting of the SDB and FMA from the houses in the South of the country.
On Saturday 13 April, they attended a meeting of the Council of the groups of the Salesian Family in Mozambique. This week of intense work ended on Sunday 14 April at the São José centre in Maputo with Mass, followed by a meeting in the theatre for dialogue and formation.
This last meeting was attended by Salesians and Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, delegates to the Salesian Family, together with Cooperators, past Pupils of the SDB and FMA; members of the Association of Mary Help of Christians, Volunteers of Don Bosco and Volunteers with Don Bosco – in other words, representatives of all the 8 groups of the Salesian Family in the country. Slowly the seed of Don Bosco is growing also in this country.
One of the principal motives for this visit of animation and formation was the desire to meet young Salesians and Daughters of Mary Help of Christians at the different stages of formation, and to give them, right from the beginning of their Salesian life, a knowledge and a great love for and attachment to the Family which draws its inspiration from Don Bosco.
