(ANS – Sahuayo) – On Tuesday, 19 March, the Solemnity of St Joseph,  a business education project known as Empresate was blessed and opened at Sahuayo.

Fr Salvador Cleofás Murguía Villalobos, the Salesian Provincial of Mexico-Guadalajara presided at the event, attended by 50 people including members of the Provincial Council, Fr Felipe Plascencia, Rector of the local Salesian community, Mr. José Ángel Rivero, President of the Vínculos y Redes Association, Mr Oscar Tenopala, President of the Creative Business Thinking and Development Group. The audience also included the Salesian community, teachers, civil authorities and candidates for the programme.

The first to be selected for this initiative, planned as a business-oriented school, are twelve young people between the ages of 15-25. Business schools of this kind include work experience and acquisition of competencies aimed at developing the overall competence of the students, meeting their needs and supporting their business aspirations, offering them the chance for personal success as well as improving their family and social life.

Empresate is the result of reflection and collaboration between the Salesians at Sahuayo, the Vínculos y Redes and Creative Business thinking and Development Associations who together aim at guaranteeing ongoing education and a link with work experience using business models connected with production: high quality lamb; goats milk and its derivatives; fresh and dried fruits used for juice production; and adoblock – a kind of brick

The project also provides opportunities at Sahuayo where young people and adults can a can learn how to manage a business through a gradual decision-making process. Pupils in the project can gain experience and ability in creating their business amd being atcive players in their own success but in a Salesian style.
