(ANS – L’Avana) – On the weekend of 22-24 February, involving people from the various works on the Caribbean island, Havanna was the location for the National Formation Meeting for Social Communicators. Fr Pablo Abreu, sdb, Social Communications Delegate for the Antilles Province led the meeting (ANT).

From Friday evening till midday Sunday there were various moments of reflection, presentation, workshops and liturgy. Fr Abreu knew how to involve and interest his audience with his considerations on the spirituality of the Salesian communicator, while the delegate and coordinator of SC in Cuba, Bro. Julio Fernández, and Salesian Cooperator Carlos Daniel Urquijo respectively, presented their planning the Cuba Delegation.

During the weekend there was also time for two workshops on news editing and photography, which then concluded with a press conference. Fr Bruno Roccaro, sdb, celebrated Sunday mass. Fr Abreu offered him as an example of a consistent and coherent Salesian communicator.

The event gave further encouragement to the work that the Salesians in Cuba are carrying out in the Social Communications area, in their mission as signs and bearers of God's love for the young, following Jesus Christ the Good Shepherd in Don Bosco's style.
