(ANS – Mandaluyong) – As part of the St John Bosco celebrations but also 60 years for the College, last 21 January, Don Bosco Technical College (DBTC) Mandaluyong organised a “Grand Act of Eucharistic Adoration”. 2,500 people, including students, past pupils, Salesians and members of the educative community came together on the school's football field.
“Home” seemed to be the watchword for the event, which also marked the beginning of celebrations for the school's Diamond Jubilee; the organisers wanted to emphasise how an act of Eucharistic Adoration would symbolise each person's return to the true source of peace.
The liturgical service began with a procession led by the Rector of DBTC, Fr Martin M. Macasaet , who carried the Blessed Sacrament from the small College chapel to the football field. There followed a period of Exposition, accompanied by a brief inspirational message from Fr Edwin Soliva. Then came a period of silent adoration broken only by some hymns from the choir.
The most emotional moment for the occasions came when a number of white banners were unfurled towards the Blessed Sacrament at the centre of the field. Everyone was then asked to converge on the centre and touch one of them, representing how the faithful converges on the sanctifying grace of Christ
Fr Macasaet then led a prayer of spiritual communion and gave the crowd a solemn Benediction. The event, lasting some 2 hours, concluded with a joyful hymn.
This Grand Act of Eucharistic Adoration was promoted and supported by the “Don Bosco Days with the Lord Movement”, a group made up of young people who are passionate about helping their families and peers to find a deeper and more authentic relationship with the Lord.
