(ANS – Ciudad Juárez) – On 9 December "The Corner" was inaugurated: a cultural space, an environment designed to meet the need teenagers and older youth in this frontier town have for space and alternatives for promoting culture and meeting in a peaceful atmosphere. This was part of the celebration of the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception and the "Cultural Route" Project, promoted by the Salesian Oratory in Ciudad Juárez (State of Chihuahua), represented by the Desarrollo Juvenil del Norte A.C.Association.

The Lupita Oratory, one of the Salesian Oratories in Ciudad Juárez, has had one of its buildings restructured and reorganized, creating spaces for various purposes. The work of designing and rebuilding was assisted by the young people themselves who also created murals and various decorations.

The complex includes a bar whose walls are decorated with murals of urban culture that represent the options that Salesian Oratories in Ciudad Juárez offer; a cinema with independent programming; a cyber-digital club; a room with Board Games; a second-hand clothing shop at affordable prices; a multi-purpose gym. During the opening of this new area there was an orchestra and a children's play, a game for teenagers, a show of circus arts and pantomimes, String Quartet and other groups that displayed their talents.

The structure was blessed by the Rector of the work, Fr Juan Carlos Quirarte, accompanied by the Vice Rector, Fr Juan Guillermo Lugo. About 400 people were at this new phase of the Lupita Oratory.

At the same time in the Don Bosco Oratory, in another part of the city, the final of the skating competition took place in the recently opened public park.

The three Salesian Oratories in Ciudad Juárez celebrated the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception and the Vespers of the Solemnity of Our Lady of Guadalupe. The celebrations were all packed with young people. In a city, branded as violent and chaotic, the Salesian work reveals that actually it is a young city, full of life and dreams, talents and high hopes.
