(ANS – São Paulo) – Popular support expressed through the web vote brought the Salesian Fr Moran Rosalvino to victory in the competition for the prize of " Enduring Citizen ". The ceremony took place on October 18th , at the auditorium of "Itaú Cultural".

Launched from the site "Catraca Livre" in collaboration with the network "Nossa São Paulo", the contest was launched on the eve of the local elections to discuss proposals for development and to think about the future of the city.

Eight winners were elected by popular vote in their specific categories: Alexandre Chut in Urban Interventions (also chosen General winner across all categories as a result of the popular vote); Sérgio Vaz on Culture; Carlos Souza for Technology and Communication; Erika Pampolin for Education; Roberto Kikawa in Health, Welfare and Sport; André Palhano, the Environment; Luciano Santos for participatory Democracy. Fr Moran was appointed Enduring Citizen in the category Social Inclusion.

To open the ceremony was a performance of the choral youth "Chorando em Ré Menor", composed by students of the Ibirapuera Auditorium. The journalist Gilberto Dimenstein later, creator of the website "Catraca Livre" explained the meaning behind the initiative: "this award is a tribute to the heroes of the urban city of Sao Paulo," he said.

Fabiola Cidral, CBN Radio journalist, then interviewed the winners, who each spoke of their commitment and their respective motivations. During the conversation, Fr Moran was moved by the opportunity to speak to the journalist and to present the conditions of children and adolescents who attend the social work "Dom Bosco" in Itaquera.

At the end of the ceremony, Oded Grajew, General Coordinator of the network "Nossa São Paulo", indicated the overall winner elected by the jury of experts. The chosen one was Carlos Souza, creator of the site Veduca, which shall be made available for free lessons translated into various subjects by several universities worldwide.

Mr. Grajew also congratulated the eight winners: "the biggest prize of all is the path they have chosen for their own lives," he said.
