(ANS – Rome) – On Friday 20 April the Higher Course of University Specialization “Rights and tutelage of mInors” came to an end in Rome. About 30 young people received certificates of attendance. The event served to promote reflection on how important and meaningful for the whole of society is the attitude taken in regard to minors.
The course of specialization, now in its second time round, is organized by the Pontifical Lateran University, in collaboration with the association “Arivivis”. It is a course which aims at creating professional profiles in the area of the world of minors, whether under the legal aspect or that of interventions, including administrative, directed towards assistance and reintegration.
The Rector Magnificus of the Lateran University, Mons. Enrico dal Covolo SDB, took part in the ceremony of presentation of certificates. Addressing those present, the Rector Magnificus showed that the tutelage of minors and the promotion of their rights represent a very timely challenge to contemporary society and that the ways in which society relates to minors is a clear indication of the state of health of society.
“Culture is certainly one of God’s pens, and children are the ink.” - affirmed Mons. dal Covolo - “This means that from how children are treated, starting from their conception, and then from their care and education, you can understand what kind of culture surrounds you. That is whether it is a culture which is “a pen of God”, and therefore an authentic culture; or it is a non-culture, a culture of death”.
Other speakers were Dr. Manuel Arroba Conde, Principal of the ’“Institutum Utriusque Iuris” of the Lateran Athanaeum’ and Dr. Pietro La Cava, a lawyer and founder of the “Arivivis” association, which promotes the spread of the culture of childhood, through the promotion of well-being and harmonious development during the age of development.
Finally, Prof. Michele Riondino, lecturer in Rights of Families and Minors in the Lateran University, gave an address on “the juridical status of foreign unaccompanied minors in Italy”.
