(ANS – Madrid) – On Saturday 3 December, in Madrid, with the presence of Fr Fabio Attard, Councillor for Youth Ministry and Fr Miguel Angel García, from the same Department, the 6 Provincial Delegates for Youth Ministry in Spain and the members of the National Salesian Youth Ministry Centre met together.
During the meeting they spoke about the process of rethinking Salesian Youth Ministry in the current European situation, a rather complex one, which needs care in reading the signs of the times and in responding effectively with proposals regarding Evangelisation. It was observed that there has to be constant focus on the actual situation in which lay people and Salesians are engaged in each Educative-Pastoral Community (EPC).
The Delegates said they were aware of the challenges, obstacles and opportunities presented by the current situation of Youth Ministry and at the same time realistically and with hope looked at the process of consolidation and structuring of Youth Ministry in Spain. It was mentioned that the joint meetings for animation and reflection were important because they facilitated a sharing of procedures and of points of interest on the current situation of Youth Ministry.
The Department explained their method of work as a team and the process of animation undertaken in the various Regions.
Fr Attard congratulated the Delegates and the team of the National Centre for their efforts in continuing to create new processes of education to the faith and formation, which has helped to develop a very good Youth Ministry in Salesian Spain. He also renewed his thanks and appreciation for the organisation of the activities of the Salesian Youth Movement during the World Youth Day in Madrid.
