(ANS – Alajuelita) – On Saturday 5 November at the Church of Mary Help of Christians of the CEDES Don Bosco, at Alajuelita, the Association of Salesians-Cooperators in Costa Rica held their National Formation Meeting. Taking part were Salesian-Cooperators who had already made their promise and a group of aspirants, a total of 32 people.
After the opening prayer, José Enrique Leiva Álpizar, National Consultor for Formation began proceedings with some videos: on the 150th anniversary of the Salesian Congregation; on the visit of Don Bosco’s casket to the country; and on the process of preparation for the bicentenary of the birth of Saint John Bosco.
Fr Luis Corral then gave an analysis of the “new prayer to Saint John Bosco” and to conclude the morning the National Consultor for Formation gave a talk on “The historical background to the life of Giovanni Melchiorre Bosco Occhiena”.
The second part of the day began with a presentation of some parts of the book “Memoirs of the Oratory” and a reflection on: “Young people and vocational discernment in Don Bosco” by Fr Julio Navarro.
Then using a video Margarita Fuentes Alas and Martin Calderón Vargas gave a summary of Don Bosco and the Oratory, pointing out the priorities in the work of the Founder of the Salesian Congregation. Following a reflection on “Don Bosco’s option for boys who were poor, abandoned and at risk,” the meeting ended with some group-work and then a moment of prayer in the church of Mary Help of Christians.
