El Salvador – The Salesians-Cooperators’ National Meeting |
(ANS – Santa Tecla) – In the “Salón 300” of the Saint Cecilia Institute in Santa Tecla, on Monday 3 October the Association of Salesians-Cooperators in El Salvador held its first General Assembly, aimed at strengthening its juridical status attended by 73 people, including founder members, new members and observers.
In the first session the nine founder members agreed that the National Council should act as the Executive Committee and approved the enrolment of 58 new members from five centres and two local communities.
The President gave a report on the work undertaken during the previous three years in each area. There was also an opportunity to meet and get to know each other in the family spirit and joy of the Salesian charism.
The Assembly agreed that for the next three year period the members of the National Council should act as the Executive Committee and that the election of the Councillors should take place among the active members of each centre.
The meeting ended with Mass at which Fr Manuel Gómez, the National Delegate presided and he encouraged the Cooperators to be faithful to their vocation, to work together in the centres and to be always involved in working for those in need.
Finally public thanks were expressed to Mr Angelo Orsenigo for his work in the juridical area of group.
