(ANS – San José) – On 31 August, the young 17 year student from the United States Caroline K. Moore, well-known for her scientific discoveries in the field of astronomy, gave a talk to the students of the Don Bosco CEDES to encourage them to continue their studies and to invite them to learn about the fascinating world of astronomy.
In 2008, at the age of 14 years after always being very interested in the subject, she became the youngest person to discover a supernova, - “sn2008ha”, which is also the supernova with the lowest luminosity ever observed. In July 2009 she discovered “sn2009he”, and since then has been received recognition from the Federal Government and various awards from Government Agencies for her successes.
During her visit to CEDES, in the “Concepción” district of the Alajuelita canton, in the name of the USA Embassy she donated a telescope to Fr Luis Corral, Director of the Centre so that the students of the school can observe stars and constellations.
