Fr Chambers was born at Mentone, Australia, on 13 October 1950. He entered the novitiate at Lysterfield in 1968, made his perpetual profession on 31 January 1975 at Chadstone, and was ordained priest on 10 June 1978 at East Bentleigh.
He has been Rector of some of the main Salesian houses in the Province (Glenorchy, Chadstone and Ferntree Gully) and was also School Principal in various Salesian Institutes and for many years, until last year, at “Rupertswood College” in Sunbury.
He was a member of the Provincial Council between 1994 and 2000, and from 2009 he was Vice Provincial. “Fr Chambers had very strong support from across the Province in the recent consultation. I pray that your support will remain with him over the next six years.” was the comment of Fr Moloney.
The installation ceremony will be held at Ascot Vale on 16 December.
With the appointment of Fr Chambers the General Council concluded the selection of the Superiors as foreseen by the agenda for the current summer plenary session.
