The annual retreat is one of the many events arranged by the Salesians-Cooperators in Costa Rica and is aimed at increasing their commitment as Christians, encouraging their Salesian development, deepening their sense of belonging to the Salesian Family and strengthening their apostolic zeal.
In addition to providing an opportunity to get to know each other and work together, to hold a cultural evening, to attend adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and an exercise of “lectio divina”, the Retreat also focused on three main topics: “God’s call to me,” presented by Sr Fannia; “the plan of life, my vocation” developed by the Rector Fr Eduardo Castro; and “the Apostolate” presented by Mrs Gabriela Calderón.
Divided into groups the Salesians-Cooperators reflected individually and then in the group on the topic and then each group shared its reflections with the others. As a result they were able to come to some practical decisions regarding the apostolate and the spiritual formation process. The presence of the Salesians and Daughters of Mary Help of Christians helped them examine Salesian spirituality more deeply.
The prayer moments, the “lectio divina”, the silence, the cultural items and the opportunities to socialise made the Retreat a profound experience of ongoing formation and re-enforced the commitment at National level of the Salesian Family.
