The Festivites had begun with some sports competitions between 17 andl 20 May, organised by the General Students’ Centre in basket-ball, 5-a- side footbal, volley-ball, ping-pong and chess.
On Saturday 21 May the Don Bosco Sports Hall of the ISV was completely packed by members of the educative community and representatives of the Salesian Family gathered for the Anniversary Mass, in thanksgiving to God for the witness in the city of the educative and evangelising mission of the Institute.
The beginings of the work at ISV, were remembered - the work of evangelisation, the service provided by the Salesians, so many teachers, assistants and support staff who made their own the mission of educating with the heart of Don Bosco. Gratitude was also expressed to the parents, to the teachers and to the studenti part of the Salesian Family the main collaborators in the task of education and evangelisation.
A special moment was provided by past pupils who spoke about their vocations in professional and family life as they carried in their hearts the lessons learned in youth.
At the end to great applause presentations were made to members of staff for their years of service in education. The celebration ended with the singing of the hymn of the Institute.
After the Mass, the Honour Band of ISV lined up, in spite of the rain, to show respect for the National Flag and the Standard of the Institute, thus concluding the commemorative activities for the 108th anniversary.
