Through songs inspired by the gospel texts, the Musical tells the story of last days of Jesus up to the Resurrection. Starting with the meeting of the Jewish priests who are plotting to kill him, the musical presents the moments of Jesus’ loneliness, his Mother’s sorrow, the suffering of his friends, the drama of his condemnation, crucifixion and death.
The musical focuses on the women, sensitive, strong, capable of breaking through the ranks of the soldiers and of going to Pilate demanding the release of Jesus. The women rejoice at the entrance of Jesus into Jerusalem, ask themselves why when he needs them most he is deserted by his friends, and they weep because after his death, it seems that his body has been stolen.
Among the disciples the figure of Saint Thomas stands out, who on account of his great sorrow, at the news of the resurrection of Jesus, questions all the events of the Passion and death. Someone says: “It seems too good to be true.”
“The Risen One” is seen as an opportunity for the evangelisation of the young and of the people of God through music. And as Archbishop Vittorio Pavanello SDB of Campo Grande said, it has achieved its purpose. The celebration of Easter therefore was crowned with the certainty that this effort at evangelisation finds its highpoint in the joy at the Resurrection of Jesus.
