The Salesian Stand was beside the main entrance to the Hall and among the material on show were the “Huellas” series and the religious education “Jesus fascinates me”, the Salesian Bulletin and some educational videos produced by “Televisión Salesiana” as well as a wide range of other publications on self-help, spirituality, education and religion.
The Fair was officially opened by the President opf the Republic, Dr. Alan García Pérez, accompanied by the President of the Peruvian Book Association Dr. Jaime Carbajal and the Minister of Education, Dr. Víctor Raúl Díaz. Also present were the Ministers for External Affairs Hon. José García Belaúnde, for the Environment Hon. Antonio Brack, and the Argentinal writer Norma Huidobro the international guest of honour and other dignitaries.
On the first day the Minister Antonio Brack, a Salesian Past Pupil visited the Salesian Stand and recalled that the Salesian Publishing House had produced his own first books “Recursos Naturales”, “Anatomía, Fisiología e Higiene” and “El Ambiente en que Vivimos”.
