Present at the Assembly were the official representatives of the six NGO Founding members of the Network – DMOS-Comide (Belgium), Jovenes y Desarrollo (Spain), Jugend Dritte Welt (Germany), Salesian Mission (USA), Noi per Loro (Italy), Volontariato Internazionale per lo Sviluppo (Italy) – plus those in charge of the NGO Solidaridad Don Bosco (Spain) and Mlodzi Swiatu, (Poland), who in the course of the Assembly became permanent members of the Network. “Fundaçao Don Bosco”, an NGO from Portugal which is preparing to join the Network soon took part with observer status.
Among the main items on the agenda the members of the Assembly presented and approved the reports of recent activities and the financial account for 2010. In addition the Assembly approved the plan of work previously drawn up and discussed by the Staff of the NGO seminar referred to above held in Rome 1-2 February 2011.
The Assembly also agreed to set up two teams: one concerned with “Cooperation in Development” and the other with “Education to Development.” Also on the basis of the work done in February, other focal points identified were activities of promotion and pressure groups on which a third team will be engaged.
Finally the Assembly considered ways of quickly producing and putting into operation a global platform of missionary solidarity.
The next General Assembly will be held 13-14 October 2011.
