Fr Pascual Chávez, his Vicar Fr Adriano Bregolin, Fr Fabio Attard, Councillor for Youth Ministry Fr Maria Arokiam Kanaga, Councillor for South Asia and Fr Juan Bartolomé, Secretary of the Rector Major, were given a warm welcome by the Provincial of Bangalore, Fr Thomas Anchukandam.
Speaking at the ceremony which was also attended by the members of the Provincial Councils of the 11 circumscriptions in the Region, Archbishop Bernard Blasius Moras of Bangalore, expressed public appreciation for the work undertaken by the Salesians I his diocese, emphasising in particular the contribution they make to the challenge posed by the immigration of young people.
In his reply the Rector Major said that the expectations of the Salesians for the Region were very high and very ambitious and underlined the growing importance of South Asia within the Congregation.
As the evening of welcome progressed in which members of the Salesian Family, friends and benefactors of the Salesians in Bangalore participated in a festive and joyful atmosphere, there were various performances, messages from the local authorities, multimedia presentations and dancing and singing in the “Karnatica” tradition.
Fr Václav Klement, Councillor for the Missions is on his way from Rome to Bangalore to join the other members of the Council and take part in the work of the Team Visit.
