India – A warm welcome to Bangalore |
RMG – Team Visits: the unity and fidelity to the charism of the Salesians |
This is the first of the 10 Team Visits planned for 2011 and 2012. Gathered in Bangalore will be the Superiors and the Provincial Councils of the 11 circumscriptions making up the Region.
On the Agenda is the assessment of the response to the 26th General Chapter and a consideration of the future prospects of each of the Provinces. Three topics in particular will be examined specific to this Region: the Primacy of God and the identity of the charism; the urgent need for evangelisation; the consolidation of the Region and its missionary outreach.
The South Asia Region is made up of the Provinces of Mumbay, Calcutta, Dimapur, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Madras, New Delhi, Odxel and Tiruchy and the Vice Province of Sri Lanka. At 31 December 2010 it contained 2455 professed Salesians, 129 novices, 294 canonically erected houses and 54 other presences.
