On 23 February the Polish press published news of the decision of the President of Poland Bronislaw Komorowski. The citation records “for the great achievements in the formation of the moral behaviour of young people, witnessing to love for mankind, and for the results achieved in missionary work.”
The Order of Rebirth of Poland is one of Poland’s highest Orders. The Order can be conferred for outstanding achievements in the fields of education, science, sport, culture, art, economics, defense of the country, social work, civil service, or for furthering good relations between countries. It was established on February 4, 1921 and can be awarded to both civilians and soldiers, as well as to foreigners.
The Salesians in Poland and Fr Rybiński’s family are awaiting the repatriation of his body. On Wednesday 2 March as solemn Mass will be celebrated in the Sacred Heart Basilica in Warsaw. The body will be buried in the Warsaw Brudno cemetery.
