(ANS – Seville) – About 6 months before the World Youth Day (GMG) in Madrid, the campaign of preparation is bearing good fruit. As of today over 650 have signed up in the Seville Province most of them leaders, ready for their appointment with Pope Benedict XVI. This is about 75% of those enrolled in all the Spanish Provinces.

For the Seville Province, taking part in this important ecclesial event is one of the pastoral priorities for this year as the Provincial Fr Francisco Ruiz, and the Youth Ministry  Delegate Fr José A. Perdigones have made clear.

In these last few weeks various initiatives are in progress aimed at encouraging the different educative-pastoral communities. They are intended not merely to increase the number of participants and find economic support but are real formative opportunities so that the WYD may experienced that much better.

Among others, could be mentioned the Salesian house of the Holy Trinity in Seville, where under the guidance of the coordinator of youth ministry Fr Rafael Sánchez and the Director of the Youth Centre Fr Manuel Jiménez, over 100 young people have been enrolled.

In addition, in these days, many houses have not only been preparing to welcome the many young people from all over the world who will be coming, but also have been involved in welcoming the WYD Cross and Icon.

Even though there are several further months of preparation ahead, it can already be seen that this work continues to bear fruit and that, in the end, there will be many more young people on their way to Madrid to enjoy this unique experience of ecclesial communion with the Pope.
