(ANS) – Recently the Salesians in India have presented two new aids in their cinema apostolate dedicated to Don Bosco: a new version in the Telugu language of the DVD “Bosco: Johnny Part II”, produced by the Hyderabad Province, and an animated film made by the Don Bosco “IMAGE” (Institute of Media, Art, Graphics and Effects) in Kochi.

Produced by the Social Communications Department of the Hyderabad Province (INH), under the direction of Fr DB Pravahini, and to celebrate the Year of Youth, Fr Raminedi Balaraju, Superior of the Province presented a new version of the film “Bosco: Johnny Part II” translated from the original in the Malayalam language to that of Telugu.

Presented on Monday 31 January the Feast of Don Bosco, in the Sanctuary of Hyderabad, the film tells the story of the eighteen years of work effort and labour  the Saint undertook in order to obtain the recognition of his Congregation on the part of society and of the Church. The film rather than being a simple account of the life of an Italian priest in the XIX century, projects the force of the message of Don  Bosco’s love for and dedication to the young as he tried to involve other young men in his cause

The  Feast of Don Bosco was also the occasion for the first public appearance of the animated video made by the Salesians of the Bangalore Province. Entitled simply “Don Bosco” the film is a short 25 minutes product in flash format, and can also be seen on the YouTube channel of the Institute.

Inspired by the illustrations in a well-known book on the life of Don Bosco, at present the video has dialogue in Malayalam, but  a dubbed version in other languages is also available. In was made in view of the arrival of the relics of the Saint in May  2011, so as to make the founder of the Salesian Congregation to young people and adults.

Don Bosco IMAGE is one of the more recent arrivals in the Bangalore Province in the field of Social Communications; it began on 16 August 2010, the anniversary of Don  Bosco’s birthday.
