On Saturday 1 January, World Peace Day, they took part in a colourful Peace Rally through the streets of Dimapur, dressed in their tradional costumes with placards of peace, beating traditional drums and singing their melodies.
FrJames Poonthuruthil, the Salesian Provincial, Dimapur, reminded everyone present: “Our society needs peace, and today’s young people can be the agents of peace by exploring their talents.” He thanked the young people from Salesian schools for all that they had been doing including the free medical camp they had been running at the Boscoree with Dr Stephen Kamson in collaboration with the Lions Club of Dimapur.
The first day of the New Year came to an end with a number of activities including a photo exhibition with the presence of the photo-journalist Thechano Kithan, adventure activities and a quiz on the life of Don Bosco and of Baden Powell.
On Sunday 2 January the XI in the series of Boscoree came to a close with the three flags - National, Boscoree and Scouts and guides - honorably lowered from the poles. It was a day of recognizing and acknowledging the people and place, values and messages leaned and given.
Fr Nestor Guria, Vice Provincial reminded the scouts and guides that when they got back home, they should tell others of the beauty of human life seen and experienced in the North East during the five days of Boscoree 2010.
