(ANS - Santiago de Cuba) - The Salesian houses in Cuba have recently been involved in a variety of activities.
Among these special mention should be made of the XIIth National Salesian Games that were held between 1 and 4 March at the Salesian centre of "Mary Help of Christians" in Santiago de Cuba. This traditional event saw over 90 youngsters from the five Salesian centres on the island taking part in competitions of indoor football, volleyball, basketball, table tennis and dominoes.
Another event worth mentioning was held at the Our Lady of Mt Carmel house in Santa Clara where the Salesians-Cooperators from the "Padre José Vandor" centre launched a new phase of the "Príncipe Enano" project which is concerned with children suffering from celebral palsy and their families.
The Cooperators involved in the project bring the mothers concerned together and offer them psychological and educational support. During the meeting which took place after the Sunday Mass on 25 February, the psychologist Lourdes Sarmiento, using the Rotter Test, demonstrated the needs of the mothers living with this problem and so facilitated the planning of ways of helping these children and their families.
During the meeting some of the Cooperators as well as youngsters from the youth centre looked after the children with cerebral palsy and so allowed their mothers to take part without any worries.
