Colombia – Daughters of the Sacred Hearts: growth in holiness |
Mother Eulalia was born in La Belleza, Santander del Sur, Colombia, on 9 May 1947, and entered the Institute of the Daughters of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary in 1964, and made her religious profession on 6 July 1967.
In 1987 she was sent to Italy for formation in the area of spirituality subsequently obtaining a doctorate. Superior of the community in Rome, she combined her studies with caring for the sick and elderly Salesians in the infirmary of the Salesian Pontifical University (UPS).
In 1999 she became the General Councillor for the “Luis Variara Secular Movement”, helping with its understanding of the secular dimension of the charism and also the re-organisation and consolidation of the Movement. With other members of the Council and members of the Movement she also drew up a new formation document and other aids for each stage.
According to the Regulations of the Institute, Mother Eulalia’s second mandate as Superior of the Daughters of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary begun on 14 December 2010 will last for six years.
