180 young people took part from various cities representing the various groups and Associations linked to the SYM. During the three days they reflected on their own commitment, on spirituality and on the difficult situation in Mexico at present.
Led by the members of the Provincial Council of the SYM the young people were particularly interested in two of the key issues of Salesian youth spirituality: joy and living an everyday spirituality.
There was also great interest in the reports given by some members of the Provincial Council who had taken part in the recent SYM meeting for the Interamerica Region. In this way all those taking part were able to know that the efforts they were making and their commitments were being shared by many young people in other countries.
Also very important was the examination they undertook into the subject of the growing increase in violence and the atmosphere of insecurity in the country and which precisely in recent weeks has further escalated. On this point, in addition to indicating the causes and expressions of the problem which regard themselves directly the young people produced a manifesto addressed to young people and to society in general expressing the hopes and the decisions of the SYM.
