Ecuador – Farewell to Fr Peraza |
Ecuador – Somewhere to get to know Don Bosco |
Brazil – Fr Carlos Garulo given a Doctorate “Honoris Causa” |
Don Fernando Peraza Leal is a Salesian priest born in Tunja, Colombia, in 1926. He has dedicated his existence to the study of Don Bosco. Together with the various activities involved in a Salesian life, as a lecturer, Director of the Institute, Provincial and founder of the Salesian Regional Centre for Ongoing Formation, he knows how to pass on the historical, educational and spiritual experiences of Don Bosco to young people, Salesians and all the members of the Salesian Family in America.
For this reason he is recognised as an authority throughout America in the moral, educational, spiritual and academic fields. He is a member of the Salesian Historical Association (ACCSA) and 12 years ago he received an honorary doctorate in Pedagogical Science and Salesian Spirituality from the Polytechnic Salesian University of Ecuador. Several of his works are being translated into English and Portuguese.
His experience as founder of the Salesian Regional Centre for Ongoing Formation, now in its 36th year, has given him the opportunity to consolidate his reflections, thoughts and understanding of Don Bosco.
With the foundation of the School for Teachers of Salesianity, which took place 11 years ago through his efforts, there has spread throughout the continent “the passion to return to Don Bosco, returning to the young”, especially the poorest.
