Ukraine – A University Hostel entrusted to the Salesians |
On Sunday 4 July Andriy Bodnar was ordained priest by Archbishop Andriy Sapelak SDB, former Bishop in Buenos Aires of the Ukrainians who pres died at the Sunday Eucharist. During the same celebration Bishop Bogdan Dziurakh CSSR, auxiliary bishop of the Arch-Eparchy of Kiev and collaborator of Cardinal Lubomyr Husar, Patriarch of the Greek-Catholic Ukrainians conferred the diaconate on Hryhoriy Shved and Yuriy Smakous.
As well as Salesians and the parents of those ordained many of the faithful were present at the solemn celebration. Also present were Fr Giuseppe Pellizzari, Provincial of the East Europe Circumscription and Fr Luigi Testa, Rector of the Don Bosco International Institute in Turin where this year the two new deacons had completed their theological studies.
At the end of the celebration Fr Onorino Pistellato, Superior of the Salesian Delegation of the Byzantine-Ukraine Rite thanked the congregation for their presence, and especially the parents of the new ministers for the gift of their sons in the service of the Church and of the Congregation reminding them, as Don Bosco promised, that the place left by the son would be filled by the Lord.
Speaking at the end of the Eucharist, Bishop brought the greetings of the Patriarch Cardinal Husar and the whole Salesian Family in the Ukraine, and thanked the Salesians for all they do for the young and for the Greek-Catholic Church in the Ukraine.
The day before, Saturday 3 July, Archbishop Andriy Sapelak conferred the sub-diaconate on two young Salesians from the Ukrainian Delegation of the Byzantine-Ukraine Rite Oleg Ladniuk and Petro Vaskiv.
