RMG – Salesian Family: forthcoming Charter of Salesian Identity |
RMG – The World Consultative Body of the Salesian Family |
Fr Adrian Bregolin, Vicar of the Rector Major, led and coordinated the meeting which representatives of more than 20 Salesian Family groups took part in. Some group s were unable to attend due to circumstances beyond their control. The founders of three recently admitted groups to the Salesian Family were present: Fr Jonas Abib (Canção Nova), Fr Joseph D’Souza (The Disciples) and Mr Guido Pedroni, Guardian general of the Community of the Mission of Don Bosco (CMB).
The first part of the meeting was dedicated to presentation and updating of info on the journey that each group has been making. Then came the presentation of the “Salesian Family Identity card”, document which the Rector Major had presented at the end of the Spirituality Days this year. With the presentation and official handing over of the text a period of study begins involving the Salesian Family groups which have been invited to send in their comments and suggestions before October for further reworking and eventual approval. The “Salesian Family Identity card” is a document of the Rector Major`s, and as Fr Chávez has himself indicated, it is quite essential for any ecclesial recognition of the broad movement of people, united under Don Bosco`s charism, and dedicated to the education and evangelisation of the young.
An ongoing formation proposal has also been drafted. An updating course open to all groups of the Salesian Family has been scheduled for 2012 in Cremisan, in Israel. This initiative, of a biblical and spiritual nature, is the first step in a plan that should see Cremisan become an ongoing formation centre for the Salesian Family. A small commission has been set up to put this course in place.
One of the coming events for the Salesian Family will be the 6th International Congress of Mary Help of Christians to be held in Częstochowa, Poland, from 3-6 August 2011. All groups of the Salesian Family have been invited to take part in this event, promoted by the Mary Help of Christians Association (ADMA).
During the Advisory council`s days of work, the Rector Major, Fr Pascual Chávez offered the theme for Strenna 2011 which, as those present confirmed, is in continuity with the evangelisation of the young: if Jesus is not proclaimed explicity there can be no vocational proposal.
These work sessions were a true laboratory of communion and thought. During the Holy Trinity Sunday Mass, Fr Chávez recalled how the Salesian Family is called to live out and interpret communion.
